At Lowcountry Dock and Marine we want to build you a beautiful new dock that will perfectly fit your needs. Our docks are fully customizable with countless optional features. This allows us to create something specifically tailored to you. We have completed small jobs that consisted of short walkways leading to a simple pierhead. We also have tons of experience building bigger, high-end docks that included large covered pierheads with multiple floating docks. The bottom line is if you have a vision for a dock that meets your needs and falls under your budget, we have the know how to get it done correctly. Also if you have an old dock that needs to go we can demo and dispose of it to make room for your new and improved version.

Often times our customers have docks that don't require a total rebuild. If your dock is still salvageable or just needs some TLC to get it back to its former glory, we can help. One common example of this type of project is "re-decking". If sun damage has caused your dock's deck boards to grow dark, cracked, and dangerously weakened, our crew can replace these boards to extend the life of your dock. Another common repair is to poorly built handrails. We see many older docks that have loose handrails. We can replace these damaged handrails with our much sturdier version to ensure no on gets hurt on your dock. These are just two examples, but we have undergone many other types of restoration projects, big and small, and would love to hear about any that you have in mind for your dock!

Everyone should have the ability to make their docks configured exactly how they want them. At Lowcounty Dock and Marine we don't just build cookie cutter docks that are all the same. We listen to our customers and talk with them about what they are primarily doing on their docks. Are you a big fisherman who needs a fish cleaning station? We can make that happen and can add a sink to wash off afterwards. Are you using the dock primarily as a place to hang out with family and friends? Let us build some custom benches so everyone has a place to sit. Another common addition to docks we build is a gate that allows you to close access via the walkway when you are not home. The options are endless and commonly include thnigs like ladders, outlets, lights, handrails, custom cleat configuration etc. We look forward to working with you to create a one of a kind dock that perfectly fits you and your family's needs.

With the large tidal swings in the Charleston area a floating dock is a great addition to your pierhead. With the ability to move up and down it allows you to always have access to the waterline, which is a must for boaters. At Lowcountry Dock and Marine we can repair old floating docks that need some work to restore them to working order. Often this invloves re-decking the floating dock, repairing busted floatation tanks, new support beams, new hardware to attach the dock to its pilings, or ramp repairs. However if your floating dock is beyond repair, we can build you an entirely new floating dock and dispose of your old one.

Lowcountry Dock and Marine has been working with Dock Blocks to install their modular floating docks. Most commonly our customers utilize their drive on boat lifts (jet docks). These drive on boat lifts can be configured specifically for your exact boat. Smaller boats might just need the dock blocks. However, larger boats often need a tank to raise and lower the level of the jet dock in order to ensure the boat will stay completely out of the water, while still being able to easily slide on and off. Another common addition to the dock blocks system is a reverse winch system. This system allows you to use the winch to secure the boat to the jet dock. However, it really aids in the removal of the boat from the jet dock by pulling backwards on the bow of the boat through two pulleys. Lowcountry Dock and Marine is very familiar with the dock blocks system and can help you decide if you will need these add ons for your jet dock system and can get them for you through Dock Blocks.

A seawall or retaining wall can be a great addition to your waterfront property. Retaining walls allow you to create a defined edge between your yard and the marsh or beach. This allows for better landscaping without having to worry about sand encroaching into your yard. A seawall on the other hand keeps your property protected from the water and can be very useful for waterfront homes near high traffic areas. Both of these structures provide great erosion control and allow you to better control and manage your yard. In many cases a seawall or retaining wall will also increase the property value of your home. Lowcountry Dock and Marine has the know how to install your seawall/retaining wall properly, in a timely matter, and for a good price.

Pilings often sustain damage from years spent in the saltwater. The natural deterioration can be sped up by oysters and shipworms that compromise the strength of the pilings. If you're pilings look weakened or are starting to move and/or lean it's probably time to replace them. Lowcountry Dock and Marine has the equipment to pull old pilings out of the mud and can dispose of them for you. Once the old piling are gone we can place new pilings in that are the proper length to offer the support your dock or walkway needs.

A boat lift is a great way to keep your boat out of the saltwater and its elevated position often allows for easier loading and unloading of your boat. Also getting your boat completely out of the water will help you keep it clean and keep it from developing a scum line. We have experience installing all sorts of different types of boat lifts. Our process usually begins with working with the manufacturer to determine the piling configurations required for the particular model you have. Then we will drive pilings to fit these requirements. After the pilings are secured we will install the boat lift on these pilings and run power to the machine. If you aren't sure which boat lift you need for your boat, Lowcountry Dock and Marine can point you in the right direction and help you get one that will fit your needs.

Often times the fast moving tides in the Charleston area coupled with exposure to waves can cause erosion on your property. One solution to this issue that doesn't involve the construction of a seawall or retaining wall is rip rap. This involves placing rocks along the waters edge. Lowcountry Dock and Marine has the knowledge to help decide the size of the rocks required to protect your particular property. We will start by preparing the area and creating a more even surface to place the rocks on. Often times rip rap requires a lining beneath the rocks to maximize its effectiveness and we will determine whether or not this is neccessary for your shoreline.

The term timber bridges can encompass many different types of structures. It could be a walkway out into or over a section of marsh. It could also be a small bridge to cross over a waterway or swampy area of your property. Another common area for timber bridges is on golf courses where there are many water crossings. Lowcountry Dock and Marine can build you a timber bridge for whatever application you need. We can build small, simple bridges that allow you to access different parts of your property by creating a nice walkway. We can also create wider bridges that can support small vehicles such as golfcarts.

Most new contruction projects or additions will require a permit. The permitting process can be very confusing and overwhelming for homeowners. Luckily Lowcountry Dock and Marine has experience with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) as well as a good relationship with several local surveyors. We know how to work with both of these groups to secure a permit for your new marine construction project. Please reach out to us with any permit/survey questions, as we are happy to help you through the entire process .
